The sudden explosion of knowledge in life science has led to the development of technologies that use living organism or substances derived from them for the benefit of man. The controlled use of biological agents such as organisms or cellular components for beneficial use is known as biotechnology. It is the integrated use of biochemistry, microbiology and chemical engineering to achieve industrial application of microbes and cultured tissue cells. The students can be placed in pharmaceutical industry, beverage industries, research laboratories.
